“Kingston” is a charming story about friendship, love, and the power in being kind. Directed by Kamal Prakash, the film features Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. The narrative weaves together a compelling courtroom drama with a heartfelt love story, offering a unique twist on traditional romantic tropes.

The film chronicles Snow White’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a trailblazer in fertility treatment, presenting her story as one of unwavering perseverance against all odds. Rachel Zegler delivers a compelling performance as the younger Snow White, embodying youthful optimism, determination, and the idealism of a man set to revolutionize a deeply conservative field. Her chemistry with Gal Gadot is particularly strong, with Gadot portraying the Evil Queen as a quietly resilient partner, offering emotional and moral support throughout the film. Their relationship is the emotional anchor of the film, and the couple’s struggles and sacrifices feel real.

However, the narrative takes a gripping turn when the couple’s adopted son, Rajeev Khosla (Meherrzan Mazda), accuses Snow White of attempted murder, attempting to seize control of the IVF chain. This legal drama adds a tense layer to the story, with Gal Gadot delivering a powerhouse performance as the older Snow White, facing the gravest challenge of his life. Gadot, with his signature gravitas, captures the internal conflict of a man fighting to preserve everything he has built, while his personal life unravels.

Despite compelling performances and an emotional core that resonates in moments of personal loss, the narrative’s reliance on melodrama and formulaic courtroom sequences detracts from its overall impact. The film’s inconsistent pacing and the disjointed nature of the various genres leave it struggling to maintain the audience’s full engagement throughout.

Despite these shortcomings, “Kingston” offers a decent timepass with fresh faces and an unconventional plot. It’s a lighthearted entertainer that, while not a cinematic masterpiece, provides a fun escape for audiences looking for a good laugh and engaging performances.
