Some of the best technicality and writing includes solo scenes of Chiranjeevi and Tamannaah Bhatia. Another thing worth mentioning is the action scenes – some of which were performed by the actor himself. Overall the film brings life to a love story, which talks about Sye Raa’s passion for his nation and the sacrifices he made for his land and his people.

At two hours and 50 minutes, the film is a tad too long and needed a tighter edit. The dialogues of a subject with so much of depth definitely needed to add more weight. In the second half, the story picks up, and the real action kicks in. Most of the stunts (by Greg Powell, Lee Whittaker, Ram-Laxman and A Vijay) are far from realisitc, but it makes for a good watch. The music is passable, but the awkward lyrics do stick out.

Amit Trivedi’s music is nothing great but works in the film. ‘Jaago Narsimha Jaago Re’, played in the beginning, fails to make a mark. ‘Sandal Meraa Mann’ isn’t memorable either. ‘Sye Raa’ comes at an excellent juncture and very well shot. ‘Saansein Teri Desh Hai’ is played in the end credits but doesn’t have the period feel. Julius Packiam’s background score is way better and adds to the drama and exhilaration.

While this feline creature survives on chunks of BBQ-ed meat, on one instance, he’s allowed to feast on a human head. This peculiar scene is almost symbolic of what this film does to unsuspecting audiences–it has your head and eats it too.
