The film’s music is listenable and the songs are well-shot. The setting of the middle-class life in a small-town is deftly showcased, but sadly the character actors (including seniors like Rakesh Bedi), who should breathe life into those sets, are a hamfest. For a comedy, ‘Indoo ki Jawani’ lacks sorely on funny dialogues and humorous punches.

Abir Sengupta’s direction is not upto the mark. Although there are comic incidents, they just don’t add up. The audience often gets the feeling of watching a television serial — and that’s not a very nice thing. Music (Rochak Kohli, Mika Singh and Badshah) is good. The ‘Heelein toot gayi’ song, ‘Hasina pagal deewani’ and ‘Dil tera’ songs are very fast-paced dance numbers. Lyrics (Shabbir Ahmed, Gurpreet Saini, Gautam G. Sharma and Badshah) are in synch with the mood of the film.

Indoo Ki Jawani does not, however, sufficiently build upon these ideas. It is too focused on mining laughs from the girl’s awkward attempts to lose her virginity. The film strives not to allow the heroine’s agency to be reduced to a joke and makes a afir bit of headway. But overall there is more drudgery than drollery on offer.

A Vasanth’s cinematography is sans complaints. Priya Suhass’ production design gives the film a realistic touch. Amin Khatib’s action is minimal and not too violent. Sheetal Sharma’s costumes are very appealing, especially the ones worn by Kiara. Ajay Sharma’s editing could have been crisper but nevertheless, he does a fine job.
